Open letter to the Office of the Premier,

Regarding my email of Aug. 20, 2020, questioning the ethics and legalities of the Work BC brochure distributed in Barriere and Clearwater in early August listing available jobs with the TransMountain Pipeline project - I have received no reply.

The brochure clearly stated that Aboriginal applicants would be given priority, and requested that racial identity be part of the job application. There was no indication that applicants would be given priority on the basis of training/experience/suitability.

I was shocked to see this example of blatant racial prejudice being practiced and promoted in British Columbia in the year 2020.

If the Province needed to make allowances for compensation for the pipeline crossing Aboriginal lands, surely there were other alternatives? Racial prejudice in any form is to be abhorred, not promoted!

Thank you for your attention to this matter.
