Construction of a new shed to protect our new Yellowhead 4-H Club weigh scale from the elements is well underway, thanks to the TRU Women in Construction Trades program participants.
After having to replace the old scale, weigh bars, and scale head last year due to weather damage, a shed to protect the weigh scale was important.
We had actually started working on the process of getting a weigh scale shed in December of 2019. The Lower North Thompson Community Forest Society (LNTCFS) have generously supplied all the lumber, and also a grant for purchasing roofing and construction materials.
Unfortunately, we just did not get a building party organized to get it constructed in 2020 before winter set in.
We protected the scale as best we could with tarps and had the 4-H families fathers geared up to take time out of their busy lives to start construction this spring. I am sure they and the Yellowhead 4-H members are extremely grateful to the Barriere Chamber of Commerce, LNTCFS, and North Thompson Fall Fair and Rodeo Association (NTFFRA) for getting the TRU Woman in Construction Trades Program on board to construct the shed.
