Mounties are appealing to the public to help locate a person of interest reportedly involved in thefts in 100 Mile House recently
100 Mile House RCMP have received two reports of similar thefts that occurred at a business parking lot on the 90 block on Highway 97. According to Sgt. Brian Lamb, a complainant had been shopping at a store nearby and had entered their vehicle when they were approached by what the RCMP says is a "male described as Southeast Asian, 5'8, heavy set, wearing a red and orange shirt, brown shorts and a baseball cap." The RCMP said that the male advised the complainant that their vehicle had a flat tire caused by thumbtacks and had directed the complainant to the tire, which had thumbtacks.
The RCMP say that the complainant had "soon discovered after that a credit card has been stolen from the vehicle and used at locations in 100 Mile House", and that "a separate complaint was made with the exact same incident occurring at this location involving this male" - with debit and credit cards being taken.
The RCMP say that it is believed that the male had intentionally damaged vehicle tires for the purpose of distraction, and then waited for owners to return while a nearby female accomplice entered the vehicle and stole cards from the vehicle of each person.
RCMP say they have obtained surveillance images of the female believed to be involved in the comes and who the RCMP say was allegedly with the male at the time of the incident.
