A single vehicle collision on Timothy Lake Road led to a driver being given a roadside prohibition for refusing to provide a sample of his breath was one of 59 calls to service the 100 Mile House RCMP responded to between Feb. 4 and 11.

Details provided in a news release completed by 100 Mile RCMP Sgt. Brian Lamb, noted the Timothy Lake Road collision reported to police on Feb. 9, involved a vehicle striking a utility pole.

BC Highway Patrol, as well as detachment members attended and found the driver not injured but also showing signs of alcohol impairment. RCMP issued a breath demand but the driver refused. The driver was then issued an immediate roadside prohibition from driving for 90 days and his vehicle was impounded for 30 days. The driver was also charged with driving without consideration, no driver's license, as well as open liquor in a motor vehicle. In addition, RCMP say a small amount of methamphetamine was located in the vehicle and seized.

Outstanding warrants

RCMP arrested two people who they say had outstanding warrants from Williams Lake and Hope respectively.

The first arrest came on Feb. 6, where RCMP were conducting patrols on Canim-Hendrix Lake Road and observed a male walking in the area who had outstanding warrants for weapons offences from Williams Lake. RCMP arrested the man without incident and transported the man to cells for a bail hearing. The male was remanded into custody by the courts.

The second arrest came on Feb. 9, when RCMP were conducting an investigation into a matter on Birch Avenue and a male was observed who had an outstanding warrant for a driving offence from Hope. RCMP arrested the man without incident, and transported him to cells for a bail hearing. The male was later released to attend court in late February.

Shoplifting

On Feb. 7, RCMP received a report of a shoplifting incident from a business on Birch Avenue. A female left the store without paying for an item and got into the passenger side of a gold Honda Civic where another female was observed to be the driver. The vehicle then left the area. RCMP described the female as Caucasian, with blonde hair and wearing a dark green jacket.

Alcohol consumption while driving

On Feb. 9, B.C. Highway Patrol stopped a vehicle on Easzee Drive near Telqua Drive. RCMP spoke with the driver and because alcohol consumption was suspected, the RCMP conducted a breath test using an approved screening device which resulted in a fail. The driver was issued an immediate roadside prohibition for 90 days and the vehicle was impounded for 30 days.
