At our AGM in early May a new executive was elected and all members are looking forward to another enjoyable year of discussions, gatherings, and trips to local destinations.  During the past year on different outings we visited Wells Gray Park waterfalls and Clearwater Lake, floated down the North Thompson near McLure, checked out the daffodil festival at Bradner near Abbotsford, viewed the multitude of salmon spawning in the Adams River and toured Vavenby and Clearwater to see the Christmas lights.  A trip to Sun Peaks happens very soon and an excursion to Kamloops to ride the Heritage Train is being planned during the summer months.  In September, we have a slide presentation on Namibia by Dave Williams of TRU.

We take an active role in matters that affect all Seniors. We suggested that that Clearwater be a “community for people of all ages and stages of life” and this phrase was used by Don Manson as the title in drawing up the Official Community Plan.  Our book club meets at the Library, 2 pm, on the last Thursday of each month and more are welcome to join our super discussions.  Third Sunday Social is at Wells Gray Inn at 12:30 pm for chatter and chewing!  Activities are happily shared back and forth with the Friendly Club at Evergreen Acres.

Thanks to Evelyn Warner for her efforts in running a raffle recently, a successful fundraiser which was drawn at the AGM with great prizes donated by local citizens and businesses.  Cheryl Thomas was the lucky recipient of the beautiful Afghan and pillow donated by Chris Rottacker, J. Wysoski won the valuable Safety Mart certificate, Sid Thomas received the useful Home Hardware certificate, and Elsie Sunderman will enjoy making good use of the Elk’s Breakfast certificate.

As our brochure states: “The basic purpose of this Society is to encourage seniors over 50 years of age to be active and productive, to encourage and foster involvement in activities for the betterment of themselves and their community.  The Society welcomes everyone and encourages affiliation with other groups with similar objectives.”  We are a busy and a fun group - and we are open for more members.  For further information phone: Sandra Holmes 250 - 675 - 3615 or Evelyn Warner 250-674-3688.
