On Friday, April 22, from 10:30 a.m. to 2 p.m., the Vavenby Elementary School went on a field trip to the Aveley Sheep Ranch. The students, two teachers and some parent helpers arrived at the ranch by a school bus. It was a sunny day for the tour.

The children were split into their class groups and then went around to look at the cows and the pens of lambs. They didn’t see any lambs being born but they did get to cuddle the orphans. The students were unable to bottle feed the orphans, though, because it wasn’t their meal time.

There was a hay ride in the middle of the tour. The trip ended with the students eating their lunches outside. The Parents’ Advisory Committee (PAC) provided pizza subs for those who wanted them.

When asked what their favourite part of the trip had been both Grade 7 student Zafariah Toscano and Grade 5 student Cate-Lin Tourond said, “Petting the lambs.” For Grade 5 student Kelsey Rexin it was the hay ride and bugging Isaac Moilliet. Moilliet later said that everyone had a good time.
