Valley Voices: Pioneer women of the North Thompson

Pioneers of the North Thompson Valley were not just of the male gender, there were many women included as folks moved into the area to settle and create a life for themselves and their families. There were many hardships for the pioneers to endure and overcome, and in many instances the women were called on to take on numerous chores and jobs that they would never have experienced while living in cities and more populated areas.

There were many hardships for the pioneers to endure and overcome, and in many instances the women were called on to take on numerous chores and jobs that they would never have experienced while living in cities and more populated areas.

Pioneer women had to be able to handle most everything that came their way, they quickly adapted to their surroundings, were inventive, and fast to problem solve. These ladies were not just cooks and cleaners; they were nurses, teachers, farmers, builders, hunters, anglers, musicians and so much more.
