It has become a lovely Valentine’s Day tradition in the North Thompson to offer a special teatime to all who would like to attend our Clearwater Royal Purple #302 and the Valentine’s Day Tea each year.
In the past we have had so many unique events - from tea with funny skits and brightly coloured decorations to a tea with the characters from Alice in Wonderland.
This year, we teamed up with the North Thompson Arts Council (NTAC) and the Silver Tones to host and entertain the seniors who attend the bi-weekly music event at the new Evergreen Acres Seniors Centre Hall.
What a lovely afternoon we had together as people sang along with the Silver Tones and conversations of love and acceptance flowed around the beautiful new centre.
As seniors in our community, we celebrate these specials occasions with a hug and a sincere conversation. We are thankful for the monetary support and we will ‘split the proceeds’ from this special event with NTAC and put the rest towards our support of a graduating student from Clearwater Secondary School this June.
We’d like to express our gratitude also to the members of the public who helped support this community event with your generosity.
This year the Royal Purple of Canada, Clearwater Branch #302 is supporting Brain Injuries as our cause. We wear “Purple Thursday T-shirts” with a symbol of a brain encased in a heart to represent the theme of this year’s sponsorship. Brain injury can happen in a heartbeat and we will be sharing more of our knowledge on this important topic during upcoming events.
