A few Blue River residents are concerned about some new Trans Mountain activity in their small town.

The Times has confirmed that a construction yard is being built, where equipment and construction materials will be stored. Trans Mountain said the area, north of Stewart Street and south of 1 Avenue, between Cedar Street and Railway Avenue, was chosen due to its proximity to cell phone service as temporary offices and trailers will also go in this space.

The development of a construction year was announced in 2019, and a Trans Mountain spokesperson said a notice was also recently sent to residents through the mail.

The land the construction yard is being built on is currently being leased by Trans Mountain, and the yard will in operation until the project is complete. According to an update from the company in February, the mechanical completion of the project is set for the fall of 2o23.
