By Kelly Ludbrook
Orange, Pink, Blue
These are the colours of the sky.
I try to capture these colours, the light of the morning,
So I can preserve this scene,
Make something deserving
Of awe; a show of beauty.
I drag my brush across the page;
It leaves bold, opaque strokes in its wake.
Orange, Pink, Blue, Yellow
The sun rises over the mountains,
Blooming, its golden light spreading across the sky,
Melting across the horizon
And up to the heavens.
Orange, Pink, Blue, Yellow, Black
The sun’s show is contrasted by trees
Their shadowy forms stand tall and skeletal before the sunrise
But they, too, are beautiful.
The thin brush creates their trunks and frail branches,
The needles of the little spruce,
The trace of leaves that have left for the winter.
It’s remarkable.
