Tainted drugs cause injury or death

A 15-year-old male from Strathmore, passed away at the Strathmore Hospital shortly after arriving. The second person, a 19-year-old male also from Strathmore was transported by STARS Air Ambulance to a hospital

The following is an RCMP Public Alert regarding dangerous drugs that they believe, preliminarily, may have cause a teenager’s death.

The RCMP wish to remind the public, and especially anyone who uses illegal drugs, that there are absolutely no quality controls in illegal drug production and therefore a drug could be tainted with dangerous substances, unknown to the user, which may cause injury or death. The drug is described as a small yellow pill with a “Mickey Mouse” design.

The RCMP investigation has determined indications that the use of Ecstasy, an illegal drug, may have been involved in this incident.  In addition there is a possibility that this drug may have been dangerously tainted with additional chemicals and this may be a factor in the medical distress of the individuals.
