UPDATE: Snowfall warning issued for North Thompson

As much as 25 cm of snow is expected in parts of the region

A snowfall warning in effect for the North Thompson region has been extended.

Snowfall amounts of up to 15 to 25 cm could fall in the region today and overnight, into Friday afternoon (Jan. 7). Higher amounts are expected near the Cariboo mountains.

“An intense Pacific frontal system is moving through central B.C. Snow at times heavy will begin later this morning and continue into the night time befiore tapering off to flurries Friday afternoon,” Environment Canada warns.

Those travelling are urged to to be prepared to adjust their driving to the conditions as visibility may be suddenly reduced at times.

Wed., Jan. 5: The warning includes Clearwater and Barriere and surrounding areas where a long period of snowfall with total amounts of 10 to 20 cm is expected overnight Wednesday to Thursday (Jan. 5-6). Higher amounts are expected near the Cariboo mountains.
