On June 14, Doug Edgar from the Council of Senior Citizens Organizations of BC (COSCO) presented two workshops to local seniors.

The first workshop was about Awareness and Prevention of Elder Abuse and Neglect. He talked about physical, sexual, psychological and financial abuse as well as why victims do not want to ask for help.

If seniors need advice or help about abuse issues they can call the following numbers: Heath and Seniors Information at 1-800-465-4911. The Crime Stoppers number is 1-800-222-8477.

The second workshop taught about substance misuse, abuse and addiction.

These workshops and complimentary luncheon were part of a monthly series of workshops organized by Wells Gray Country Seniors Society and funded by United Way. The next seniors workshop and lunch will be held at the Old School House in Upper Clearwater on Tuesday July 12. There will be a historical program, followed by lunch, and then a walk around naturalists Trevor Goward's property.

Seats on the bus are limited and must be reserved by calling Lynne at 250-674-8185.
