Registration available for emergency alerts in Clearwater

Residents within the District of Clearwater boundaries are now able to sign up for alerts through the VoyentAlert! notification system.

The alert software is available in an app for both Apple and Google operated mobile devices, as well as through email, text messages or voice calls. Those interested in signing up can do so at www.districtofclearwater.com/register-now-for-emergency-alerts/.

During the 2021 wildfire season, the VoyentAlert! was only available for communities in the Thompson-Nicola Regional District (Blue River, Vavenby, Birch Island, Upper Clearwater and Blackpool). The regional district adopted the alert system in June 2020.

The app doesn’t require a username or password. Users just enter their location, and will receive emergency notifications, such as evacuation alerts and orders, as well as advisories, such as road maintenance and closures or significant water leaks or boil notices.

Those who don’t use a smartphone or have limited connectivity can receive the same alerts by text/SMS, email or phone calls to a mobile or phone. This process also doesn’t require a log-in, just enter the address you’d like to receive notifications for, the region (DOC or TNRD) and your contact information.

There is no limit to the number of locations you can sign up for notifications for, allowing users to get locations for their workplace, home residence or children’s school.
