Ken Scheetz shows off his Electra Townie e-bike. The e-bike’s pedal assist makes going uphill much easier, he says. It has a range of up to 100 miles, depending on the terrain and how hard the rider works.

Scheetz also owns a Tesla electric car plus a Chevy Volt plug-in hybrid. He recharges both using the solar cells on the roof of his home.
