Like everyone else (in the world?) Clearwater’s Rotarians are endeavouring to live life as close to normal.
However, current COVID-19 restrictions make it impossible for Rotary to arrange the annual fishing derby on Dutch Lake, a.k.a. Ice Man Days. For this we are very sorry, but here’s the good news: Soon, Rotary Richard will be standing out on Dutch Lake as usual.
For those new to town or unfamiliar with this fun routine, this cut-out wears a weather-resistant, battery-operated clock. Ingeniously attached to it is a weight that will fall into the water when the ice melts. This stops the clock registering that exact moment in time.
Rotarians, warmly dressed and wearing masks, will be set up outside Buy-Low Foods to record everyone’s guesses as to when that will happen. Be prepared to enter the date (month and day), and the time (hour, a.m. or p.m., minutes and seconds).
Competition is fierce! Cost is $2.00 for one guess, or three guesses for $5.00. Please remember to line up in a socially distant format, masks in place.
Fabulous prize for the winner guessing the closest time is $500-worth of gift certificates at the business or businesses of their choice.
Money raised covers scholarships for Clearwater Secondary School graduates and will also help us complete 2021 projects. Watch this space, and check the Clearwater Info Board, for more details that will be published in the near future.
