John Meyer, a Grade 8 student at Clearwater Secondary School, got his head shaved recently to support the Cops for Cancer Tour de North.

ShavingThis is the fifth year in a row that Meyer has had his hair closely trimmed to help in the fight against cancer.

The Cops for Cancer Tour de North this year was an 850 km bike ride that took place during one week in late September. Participants cycled from Prince George through 10 communities to Prince Rupert.

This year Meyer's goal was to raise $1,200, as the previous year he raised $1,000. With the support of members of the community, family and friends, he raised $1,460.

The local student teamed up again with one of the participants, Cst. Kevin Warkentin, and together they raised almost $10,000.
