Large crowd turns out for McLeod's visit

Federal Conservative Member of Parliament Cathy McLeod and Senator Nancy Greene Raine came to the Vavenby Community Hall last Tuesday afternoon

Our federal Conservative Member of Parliament Cathy McLeod and Senator Nancy Greene Raine came to the Vavenby Community Hall last Tuesday afternoon to talk about their party's accomplishments and its future plans.

There was not a large turnout but those who came listened attentively and asked questions. Greene Raine introduced McLeod and was very enthusiastic about her and both their jobs. Later she explained what senators do, that they are chosen and not voted in, and they that they remain until they are 75 years old.

When McLeod spoke she never put the other parties down. She said that our system isn't perfect but felt that Canada is in pretty good shape. She also feels that we have a great budget and would love to be back in the party to keep its  plans in place and growing. McLeod talked briefly on the justice system, health care and plans for bringing doctors into small communities, and agriculture.

The meeting ended with a discussion period. A lot of different issues and very good questions were brought up and answers given. Karen Moilliet did ask if there was any government help for a person wishing  to  start a business for young people to work in and learn people skills, administrative skills, and marketing skills for the business world. She would like the business to be in Vavenby  as right now the closest place to work is Clearwater. This has been a burning desire of Moilliets for years.
