Monday, April 23, saw nine Clearwater Girl Guides enjoying a sunny day at the home of Guider Kris Olson in Blackpool.
Gretchen Reveille, Susan MacFarland and Bev Buck from Wells Gray Search and Rescue taught their expertise on a variety of topics.

The girls learned map and compass skills, gathered wood and lit a campfire, and prepared a lunch, part of which was cooked on a propane stove. Later they set up tents, made bedrolls and practiced other necessary skills for their upcoming camp in June.
Other topics of discussion included different waterways and vegetation, forest fire awareness, and how to be prepare for a day in the wilderness. This intrepid group even picked, cooked and tasted false solomon seal.
