Over the course of a challenging five months, four members-in-training of Wells Gray Search and Rescue completed their rigorous ground search and rescue (GSAR) course. This comprehensive 90+ hour Justice Institute of B.C. course took place last winter and ended with an overnight exercise.

Classes were held pretty well every Monday evening and one full Saturday per month. The students completed written exams and practical exam exercises.

Course topics included personal preparedness, safety and member care, navigation, communications, search and rescue strategies, search skills, subject care and evacuation, and first aid.
