The Clearwater Fire Department kindly informed and entertained the children at Building Blocks Daycare with demonstrations and hands on experience in regards to the exciting job skills utilized by our firemen every day. Firefighters Guy, Evan and Chance brought the fire truck to the daycare whereupon the children had the opportunity to climb inside the truck, listen to the sirens, climb ladders, examine equipment  and squirt the hoses. The children were amazed at the heavy protective suits the firemen wear and the noise the breathing apparatus makes.

Children at daycare learn the safety procedures around  possible fire situations such as ‘stop, drop and roll’ and also important information like what a hot door means, but, to actually have the firemen come to daycare and reinforce their learning was truly a lesson for life.

To finish, each child was presented with a goodie bag from the Fire Department containing an activity sheet, pens and a wonderful bright red fireman helmet! Daycare staff would like to say a really big THANK YOU to the Clearwater Fire Department for a wonderful visit.
