Evergreen Acres hosts Wednesday music afternoons

The event is free and often a chance for some dancing

Every other Wednesday afternoon, local seniors and visitors enjoy live music at the new Evergreen Acres Seniors Housing Society hall.

Some days the music leads to dancing.

Now that summer is in full swing, some grandchildren have been attending as well.

Recently Cheryl Thomas was joined on the dance floor by Tyson, a teenager, to groove to Flip Flop Fly, the iconic 1950s fast-paced blues song.

Tyson's great grandmother, Esther Sellars, said Tyson enjoys being with seniors whenever he comes and visits.

"When we have music in front of our home, he is a hit with the seniors picking berries for them, handing out Popsicles and getting drinks for whoever requests one," she said. "We are very proud of this young man."

Playing for the afternoon were The Silvertones.

Admission is free to the Wednesday music afternoons.
