Easter Bunny visits Vavenby

Submitted by Robyn Rexin

The Easter Bunny made a visit to Vavenby a day early this year. It went around the whole town on Saturday, April 2, from 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m., riding on a Vavenby Fire Department firetruck.

Two more firetrucks, all with flashing lights, and six firefighters went with the bunny around town. Over 50 children, ranging in age from two months to 18 years old, received baskets.

As the trucks pulled up to a home they blew their sirens and eager kids could be seen running out to get their basket. Due to restrictions, COVID protocols were practiced, the firefighters wore masks and social distancing was practiced.

The baskets and their contents were donated by Carol Schaffer, Charlotte Cederholm and the Easter Bunny, who was Barb Pennell.

A huge thank you goes out to the ladies, as well as to the firefighters for keeping this such a special day for the children to look forward to during these very restrictive times.
