A fundraiser held at Peacock Hair Studio saw ten people leave with new ‘do’s and enough money raised for some new racing equipment.

Madyson Clark, 15, hung out front of the hair salon Saturday (April 17) afternoon with her green 1981 Monte Carlo, donned with the number 29 and her name along the roof.

She’s getting geared up for the upcoming season at the newly restored Clearwater Speedway dirt track. Something she still needed was a Hans device, a type of head restraint and safety device for motorsports. They reduce the likelihood of head or neck injuries.

Deana Pidcock, owner of Peacock Hair Studio and proud sponsor for Clark, gave 10 haircuts, with the proceeds going towards the Hans device. At the end of the day, $600 was raised. Another fundraiser held in the winter brought in another $395, for a total of $935 — enough for the Hans device.

The local dirt track is set to open the season on May 15, pending COVID-19 restrictions, after District of Clearwater council gave final approval on the rezoning application for the speedway during the last regular meeting on April 6.
