The Yellowhead Community Services and Clearwater Farmers’ Market Harvest Faire was a celebration of the harvest season on Saturday, Sept. 16 at Dutch Lake Community Centre. The morning was bursting with colourful art displays, children’s activities, live music, the farmers’ market, a bread baking competition, and a ‘Beauty and the Beast’ gardening competition.
The ‘Beauty and the Beast’ competition invited area gardeners to submit organically (no pesticides) grown vegetables, fruits and flowers from their home gardens for judging. In the ‘Beasts’ category these would be assessed as large or unusual sizes, shapes or colours. For the ‘Beauties’ category they were judged for being ideal or unblemished shape, size and colour flower arrangements. The most outstanding in either category would be awarded champion status. *Winners will be announced in the next issue of the Times.
