Clearwater Terry Fox Run 2021

Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the 2021 Terry Fox Run will be virtual once again.

Participants will be required to register via the Terry Fox website at www.terryfox.org. Then, on Sunday, Sept. 19, you can get up and head out to walk, run, bike or wheel the route of your choice. Please be sure to maintain the social distancing restrictions of two metres.

A Terry Fox app has been established where users can set goals, monitor their progress, be inspired and inspire others, connect with friends and family and support cancer research.

The two-kilometre route starts at Clearwater Secondary School. From there, head down Murtle Cres. towards the grocery store. Then, take a left on Helmcken Street and another left onto Azure Dr. Turn right onto Robson St. and a loop by turning right onto Murtle Rd., left to Murtle Cres, and onto Robson Rd. From there, head down Robson St. to Park Dr. and take a left and finally and right, back onto Murtle Cres. to CSS.

A few “your way” ideas provided by organizers include, waking up at 4 a.m. on Sept. 19 (Fox’s favourite time of day) to go for a run, gather those in your social circle and go to your favourite Terry Fox run route, create a challenge for members of a sports team or group by setting up a run on Facetime, connect with friends or family in another country and “run together,” or encourage family members to join you for a barbecue after their run.

As some may have noticed, Terry Fox signs, directional arrows and kilometre boards have been put up throughout the traditional route in town. The route runs past the Clearwater Secondary School, through Weyerhaeuser subdivision and beyond.

The 10-kilometre route starts at Clearwater Secondary School. From there, turn left onto Park Drive and follow the street to just past the hospital and turn onto Norfolk Rd. Follow around Woreby Rd and turn right onto Candle Creek Rd. Follow the road and go past the elementary school and turn right onto Clearwater Village Rd. Continue keep straight onto Swanson Rd and turn right on Clearwater Station Rd all the way up the hill and turn right at the firehall onto Murtle Rd, which turns into Murtle Cres and turn left onto Robson Rd, which turns into Robson St. Turn right onto Park Drive again, and turn left into the rear entrance for the school. The end is back at the parking lot.

Please bear in mind the previous five-kilometre route finish line via the pipeline trail behind CSS is off limits due to the pipeline construction that is underway.
