The winners for the Clearwater Library’s art show are finalized, after branch head Kaylea Prime asked the public to vote on the 35 submissions to the gallery.
All told, 169 people voted in the community through online and in-person channels leading up to the gala on April 4. Prime was inspired by other libraries who have hosted this kind of community art gallery in the past.
“The reason I wanted to do it at this library is because I know there is a lot of interest in art in this community,” she said. “I’m happy we were able to put it on and hope we can do it again in the future.
She put out five-by-seven inch canvases and card-stocks for people to bring home over spring break. Community members brought their creations back to the gallery for display by March 31.
Janel Harrison’s “Tie Dye Kitty” took first place in the adult category, while Emelia Rotzetter and Eralyn Prime won the age 6-12 and 0-5 age categories respectively.
The 6-12 category was very tight for votes, with Rotzetter taking first place by only two points, Prime said after the gala. Honourable mentions went to Maya and Jade Prime, along with Wyatt Affleck for all being within five points of the winner for their age category.
