Clearwater emergency department closed over weekend due to staffing shortages

Interior Health has announced emergency department closures once again at Dr. Helmcken Memorial Hospital this weekend, due to a shortage of staff.

The emergency department will be closed from 4 p.m. Friday, Oct. 15 to 7 a.m. Monday, Oct. 18.

“Interior Health regrets this temporary change to normal operations,” the notice reads.

Residents are encouraged to still call 911 in the event of an emergency and ambulances will be routed to the nearest emergency department, Royal Inland Hospital in Kamloops.
