Vavenby's StrongStart students went to the Forest View extended care wing at Dr. Helmcken Memorial Hospital in Clearwater on Jan. 30. They took some play-dough and colouring materials with them. Instructor Jody Phillips and moms Shannon Brynes and Sarah Affleck went too.

The children enjoyed playing with the residents and vice versa. They both played with the play-dough and with the colouring materials.

StrongStart BC is a free, drop-in early learning program for preschool aged children accompanied by a parent or caregiver.

Vavenby skiers have fun in Blue River

On Thursday, Feb. 16, the Vavenby Elementary School students went to Blue River for cross-country ski races. Raft River, Barriere, and Blue River elementary schools were represented as well.

 

One student, Kelsey Rexin, a kindergarten student ,did well, coming in third in her division.
