anfor reported slight declines in net earnings for the first quarter of 2011 compared with the same period in 2010 -- $32.3 million, or five cents a share, compared with net earnings of $35.5 million, or 13 cents a share, in the first quarter of 2010.
Sales increased to $624 million, from $577.9 million in the year-ago quarter, and while the company’s lumber production was up seven per cent, shipments were down three per cent. Canfor said bad weather across much of North America weighed heavily on home construction and its ability to deliver lumber.
