Building Blocks Daycare is a licensed childcare facility providing care for local children between the ages of two months and five years.
In our daycare building we have two main rooms; the Little Bear Room is for children under three years old and the Big Bear Room caters to children over two and a half years. Our rooms are connected by a large window and door so that the children experience a family feeling while in daycare and sibling groups remain reassuringly close. Staff leads the children using age appropriate activities but one of our main focuses is community spirit. We recognize the importance of belonging to a group, sharing, being kind to our friends and helping each other.
We do incorporate a more formal educational thread but this is unobtrusive and part of our daily routine. For example, the children practice early literacy skills by daily counting, writing their names, reading stories and taking part in drama. We also offer daily art and craft, math, science, and music activities. We truly believe that children learn best by trying for themselves and having good role models. Essentially we want the children to have fun and be safe while they are at daycare. Our staff is always available to chat with parents and care givers and we are sure that the best way to care for a child is in partnership with the child’s family.
Our hours of operation are Monday - Friday, 8 a.m. - 5 p.m. We are closed on all statutory holidays, over the Christmas / New Year period and for the first two weeks in August.
