Local organizers for the 44th annual Terry Fox Run in Clearwater are inviting everyone to support this worthwhile event on Sunday, Sept. 15. The run starts at 10 a.m. in the parking lot across from the North Thompson Sportsplex.
“We encourage everyone to join in however they would like, whether that is to run, walk, or ride a bike as we once again join the rest of Canada in honouring Terry’s legacy and raise money for cancer research," said organizer Mark Taylor.
"The route is difficult to explain in words, but it’s well marked out with signage throughout Clearwater subdivisions, roads and trails like directional arrows to follow, plus kilometre markers. The distance options are two, five, and 10 kilometre routes. We are hoping to see many joining in from all ages.”
The Terry Fox Foundation is a leading national investor in cancer research. It has raised over $850 million and funded critical research projects in areas such as precision medicine, which is a new framework for cancer research and care that will accelerate the pace of improvement in the detection, diagnosis, and treatment of all cancers.
“The funds we receive through the annual Terry Fox Run go towards supporting some of Canada’s most innovative research projects and top cancer scientists across the country,” says Michael Mazza, executive director of the Terry Fox Foundation.
