The Barriere Outdoor Club and Pickleball Club hosted a very successful first annual Canada Day Pickleball Challenge on Friday, July 1.
The event was held at the courts on Airfield Road in Barriere. The weather offered up clear skies and sunshine, and allowed for a fun and exciting event.
Participants from Barriere, Clearwater, and vacationers from East Barriere Lake joined in the tournament and festivities.
“Thank you, to Louise Lodge for running a smooth and efficient game board,” said club member Tracy Sealy, “Twenty players, and 19 games is no easy feat. Armed with a whistle, and timer, Louise ran a flawless tournament, while also participating in games.”
Sealy also thanked club member Mary MacLennan, “For taking charge of the roster on social media, and baking a delicious rhubarb/raspberry Canada Day cake for everyone to enjoy along with refreshments.”
The grand prize winner was Jordan Rainer, with the consolation prize going to Carmel Keenan.
Both Sandy Crane and Tracy Sealy went home with door prizes, kindly donated by club members.
