Editorial Reflections by Hettie Buck - Living life to the fullest

Live life to the fullest, with gratitude and unconditional love.

It's Christmas time again which seems once more to have us saying 'how can it be' with the months passing so quickly by each year as we do our best to ignore, slow and negotiate with time in this life journey.

The memories layer as the snow begins to fall here in Canada while spreading the pure magical  invitations far and wide for the promise of hope for a better future ahead.

Whether we agree or disagree on some political or personal choices,  if you live in a rural community in Canada you've experienced the 'unity of community' unconditionally, especially through recent challenging years.

Rather than clinging to our divisions we somehow collectively collaborate as a compassionate force and always seem to come together.  It's humbling and inspiring to live in this continually giving,  constantly evolving and everyday embracing land we call O' Canada.

There is no doubt in my mind, heart or soul that as a dedicated and creative human force we will always choose each other and the well being of our families, neighbours and communities as a whole towards creating a sustainable, prosperous and promising legacy for the future of generations to come.

As you celebrate, rest, remember, renew, evaluate and look forward, however you choose to spend this holiday season, I wish you health, happiness and many new memories to tuck away in your heart. Time passes swiftly and as we stop to remember days gone by, let's not miss the here and now and live life to the fullest.

In these challenging times, the smallest acts of kindness can become such a gift to treasure whether you are the giver or receiver. Differences and divisions have no meaning when unconditional love is front of mind and heart.

There is a sweet little reminder that used to hang in my kids bedrooms when they were young. Thankfulness grows, where thoughtfulness shows.

As I start my new gratitude list I look for a quiet, peaceful place for meditation and review, usually outdoors. It's become an important exercise inspired by my beautiful daughter towards achieving inner peace and I encourage you to give it a try.  As you create your list day by day it grows and grows and with it your gratitude cup fills to overflowing.

Wishing you and yours heartfelt joy as you enjoy special time with family and friends. Thank you for continuing to support local media. We've got you covered!
