Business people of the North Thompson Valley are slowly getting to know us as the newly-elected executive team of the Clearwater and District Chamber of Commerce. We have been meeting regularly to orient ourselves with the finer details of these positions, and to educate ourselves on our duties. Meanwhile formulating a way forward that is inclusive of all business voices.
Unfortunately, we needed to postpone our Small Business Excellence Awards and Gala event for a short while. However, we are continuing to accept nominations in all categories. We would welcome membership skilled in organizing these types of events to step forward with offers to contribute time or resources.
What about a ‘new direction’ for the chamber? Whether it be ‘new’ or ‘what we’ve always promoted.’ We have agreed that this group of volunteers are promoting the idea that all businesses are welcome to register to join the chamber. Groups and individuals are also welcome. We are all in this together.
Your voice is as important as the next person’s or business voice. We all see the effects of angry and often unsubstantiated conversations on local social media ….. these can ‘make or break’ businesses and organizations. The same is true of ‘good’ conversations.
What are your challenges? How do you meet with other like-minded business people? Would you participate in ‘networking’ or ‘educational’ sessions - if the chamber organized those types of gatherings?
What would you like to see the chamber work toward in 2025, and how would you like to contribute to a successful outcome of that hope?
These are the types of musings we are having. We want to hear from the business community, involve all aspects of the business community and then, in turn, find ways for these important pillars of the community to assist the not-for-profits in their own ways, building an inclusive and supportive chamber.
