Forest Industry Readiness Skills Training program starts

FIRST kicked off Mar. 1, providing training and job experience for harvesting equipment operators and log truck drivers

The Forest Industry Readiness Skills Training program kicked off Mar. 1, providing training and job experience for harvesting equipment operators and log truck drivers.

CILA will be able to assist with tuition and related training costs in the CILA, ILA and NWLA regions. The program will particularly target First Nations people, women and under-employed persons who would like to have their skill levels upgraded to the point they're able to get long-term employment in the harvesting sector.

Contractors have offered up equipment, trucks, private wood and gravel pits to help prospective loggers and log truckers train in a "living classroom". We also have a waiting list of contractors willing to take on the successful students.

The best news is that we have a waiting list of qualified potential students waiting to take the training and join the forest industry.
