Cruisin' Clearwater welcomes all for classic car weekend

Shiny rides are revving their engines for the fifth annual Cruisin' Clearwater weekend of fun

Get your motor running for some classic car action, as the fifth annual Cruisin' Clearwater event hits the road from Aug. 23 to 25.

Cars will be rolling through the North Thompson from all over the valley and Kamloops to attend the weekend's events. The three-day event starts with a barbecue and "meet and greet" on Friday, and on Saturday, Aug. 24 members will gather at the Clearwater Secondary School parking lot for the Poke-Dice run, which starts at 9 a.m. and runs until approximately 5:30 p.m.

"This is the fifth year for Cruisin' Clearwater, and we're looking forward to a full weekend starring the many rides in the area," says Ryan Mackenzie, president of Cruisin' Clearwater.

"It kicks off with a barbecue at our house in Clearwater to treat participants to pulled pork, and [let them] get a jump on registration before the Sunday Show 'n' Shine at Clearwater Secondary. We're hoping with the early registration to avoid some of the backlog on Sunday."

The Show 'n' Shine will see the parking lot at Clearwater Secondary filled with polished-up rides, and everyone is invited to come take a look at some awesome vehicles and chat with the owners.

"We are so grateful to our many sponsors in Clearwater and as far away as Kamloops in support of our annual events," says Mackenzie. "We're hoping to attract and entice more interest, and if we could get a few more each year we'd love that."

"There will be multiple awards and prizes during the weekend, which is a community event to showcase Clearwater as a destination for collectors to look forward to every year."
