The swimming lessons at Dutch Lake beach went really well this summer, even though the schedule had to change due to the wildfire situation in July.

That’s the report from Eleanor Collins, District of Clearwater’s healthy living coordinator and the swim program’s coordinator.

“I am happy to say that our community is incredibly blessed with three local Red Cross-certified water safety instructors,” she said. “The young ladies did an excellent job, along with two volunteers, teaching 115 participants over a three-week period.”

Collins pleased with the numbers as they had to change the schedule for half of the participants. At one point they were considering cancelling the entire program, she said.
