Douglas Cuyler Masterton

Born January 31, 1946, died May 16, 2017 at age 71


With deepest sadness we announce the passing of Douglas Masterton of Kamloops, B.C.

Doug was predeceased by his parents Douglas and Mildred Masterton, and his brother Mark Masterton.

Doug is survived by his wife Carol as well as his sisters Patricia Breeden (Sid), Joann McLellan (Fred) Sandra Tackitt, Penny Masterton, Heather Shiels (Barry) and Melodie Masterton as well as numerous nieces and nephews and long time friends. Also survived by his step-son Gordie (Tracey) and grand children Tyler and Allie who he was very fond of.

Doug was born at the Royal Inland Hospital in Kamloops and spent his early years at the family home in Birch Island in the North Thompson. His home was known as the Birch Island Hotel. He went to schools in Birch Island and Clearwater for his education. He started his working career in the logging industry and progressed to working on the Mica Dam project and over the years many jobs in Alberta and British Columbia in road building and pipeline construction. He was a long time member of the Teamsters. It was during this time he made his home in Kamloops.

There will be no funeral service by request. A celebration of life will be announced in the future.

We would like to extend our heartfelt gratitude to Dr. Peter Gorman and Sharon for the excellent care during his illness. A special thank you to the nurses of IV therapy at the Royal Inland Hospital who took such good care of Doug. He always said the nurses were special people.
