RCMP Report: Two apparent drug overdoses in one week

Clearwater RCMP respond to apparent drug overdoses, one in Blue River, the other near Little Fort

Clearwater RCMP report they had 68 calls for police service during the week of Sept. 1 – 8, including two apparent drug overdoses.

On Monday, Sept. 4, police responded with BC Ambulance Service to a male who apparently overdosed and stopped breathing in Blue River.

CPR was performed until the male started breathing on his own. He was taken to the hospital for medical attention.

Then on Thursday, Sept. 7, police received a 911 call around 6 a.m. from a male stating he needed help.

The caller’s cellphone was pinged near Monticola Lake in the bush about 20 km northwest of Little Fort down a couple of forestry logging roads.

Police located a single male who appeared to have been in medical distress from a possible overdose.

Police administered two doses of Narcan nasal spray to counteract the effects of potential drugs taken and provided further medical assistance.

Police transported the male from the area and met with BC Ambulance Services, who transported the male to the hospital for further medical attention.

Domestic assault

On Sunday, Sept. 2, police received a report that a male had assaulted a female within the Clearwater area.

The suspect is still at large and his whereabouts are currently unknown.

However, police are seeking a warrant to hold him in custody until he appears in court.

Crash causes minor injuries

Police responded to a single vehicle accident at the junction of Highway 24 and Eakin Creek Road near Little Fort on Wednesday.

The lone occupant of the vehicle was taken to the hospital via BC Ambulance Services with minor injuries.

Fire ban still applies

Police and Blackpool Volunteer Fire Department (BPVFD) responded on Friday to a Blackpool residence where the home owner had a small smoldering fire in a burn barrel contrary to the current fire ban in place.

The fire was extinguished by BPVFD.

Police and a Natural Resource officer spoke to the homeowner and explained the repercussions and potential fines up to $3,000.

Burglar steals guns

Also on Friday, police were called to a break and enter to a residence in Vavenby.

Sometime during the previous four days unknown suspects had broken into a residence and stolen a safe containing six firearms as well as a 60 inch LG TV.

Total value of the items stolen was $5,000.

Zero tolerance in school zones

Just a reminder that school is currently back in session and to obey the 30 km/hr in the school zone.

Police with be monitoring and conducting traffic enforcement with zero tolerance.
