Police seize drugs and fish
Clearwater RCMP report that on Monday, July 17 at 7:30 p.m., police stopped a white Plymouth Voyager with a B.C. plate after detecting the odor of burnt marijuana while following it.
While speaking with the driver and occupants, police detected the odor of green marijuana in the vehicle.
Both males were arrested and removed from the vehicle. A search of the vehicle located 16.9 g of marijuana.
The marijuana was seized but no charges were forwarded.
The search also located a large volume of salmon and halibut pieces in totes in the vehicle. The fish were turned over to BC Conservation Officer Service and violation tickets were issued by them.
Theft of U-Haul Trailer
On July 19 at 7:07 a.m. police were advised of the theft of a U-Haul trailer from Glacier Mountain Lodge in Blue River.
The U-Haul had a Virginia plate and is described as a 4’x8’ enclosed trailer, mostly white with black and red writing.
The trailer had patio furniture, tools, chairs, couch, propane tank and painting supplies inside.
Video surveillance showed the trailer was stolen at 3:35 a.m. that morning and the suspect vehicle appeared to be an extended cab white, possibly Chevrolet, pickup with a long box.
Investigation continues in attempts to identify the thief.
Possession of meth/breach
On July 20 at 5:22 a.m., police checked on a black Ford Edge with an Alberta plate that was parked on the side of Highway 5 south of Blackpool.
The male occupant of the vehicle was observed to be slumped over in his seat with his head straight down, resting on his chest.
Police looked in the window of the vehicle and could see a meth pipe in the centre console with residue on it.
A search of the vehicle located the meth pipe and 1.96 gm of suspected methamphetamine.
The driver was arrested for possession and for breach of previous release conditions.
BC Sheriffs transported the driver to court in Kamloops to go in front of a judge.
On a side note, the driver was on his way to Kamloops for a court date to deal with a possession of firearm charge dating from earlier in the summer.
Breach of probation
On July 22 at 2:30 am, police conducted a traffic stop of a black Ford pickup truck with no rear plate on Clearwater Station Road.
The driver, who is from Barriere, was known to police and had conditions not be in a motor vehicle without the owner present.
The driver was arrested by police for breach of probation and transported to Clearwater cells. The driver was released to appear in court in Clearwater on Sept. 26.
It appeared the male may have been trolling the town in hopes of taking advantage of locals during the Clearwater fire alerts and orders.
Looting an abandoned house
On July 22 at 7:24 pm, Clearwater RCMP received a report from of a possible break and enter to a residence at Mountainview Trailer Park.
The suspect left in a blue Chevrolet car with an Alberta plate.
A resident of the trailer park helped the suspect “load up” his vehicle with the items.
Police responded, identified the driver and registered owner of the vehicle, who is known to police and currently resides in Clearwater.
Police observed items in plain view in the back of the vehicle, which were seized.
Police are currently investigating the suspect and are considering charges for break and enter, theft and possession of stolen property.
