I wonder how many kinds of plates are in our homes

… or types of “plates” there are in general

So, I got to wondering the other day about plates. I know, I know, that is something strange to wonder about. Apparently, on occasion, I may possibly think a little differently than some others, who knew?

That is what makes us each unique, our individual thoughts. Mine that day happened to be about plates, okay, haha. I realized that of course I have coffee, pie, lunch, dinner and serving plates. Hmmm, was that it? Nope! Not even close. Now how about you? Can you think of more? How about in your windows? Are they plate glass? Had you thought that one?

Let’s see … how about in your jewelry boxes ladies, or also gentlemen? Got anything that is silver, or gold plated? I wonder why they call it that term? One sec, I will go look it up …there did not seem to be any real reason that they called it plating. It means to coat it. We had already known that one, but I did learn a couple new meanings for gold plating … both have to do with business profits.

I know, that seems strange to use in business, but whatever.

Hmm, now what? Well? I can always catch you out and mention a homonym … how about plaiting my hair? Not sure that one is a fair comparison, but that is what popped into my mind.

Ohhh that made me think of another term with plating … I don’t have a plate in my head if that is what you are thinking! Not that it is necessarily a bad thing for those who have the need of them.

I know there are, of course, those of you who keep teeth in a glass … are they upper or lower plates? C’mon, there have to be more types of plates or plating. Oh, I know how about home plate in baseball? I wonder who came up with that term? Hmmm … yes, again I understand this is a very different topic, but I have already gotten started and once my curiosity is peaked …

Again, can you think of more?

S’il vous plait?
